The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (BECA) of the U.S. State Department through the Northern Illinois University (DeKalb, U. S. A.) in partnership with the International Visitor Program-Philippines Alumni Foundation, Inc. will conduct the "8th Philippine Youth Leadership Program: Building a New Generation of Citizens as Catalysts for Social Change", a five-week U.S.-based exchange program on responsible citizenship, community service leadership and action plan development from April 16- May 21, 2011.
This program is open to twenty-two (22) Moro and Lumad students from third year high school to first year college and are between 15-17 years old; and to four (4) adult leaders from the ARMM and surrounding provinces. Participants will attend programs on: civic responsibility; community engagement; volunteerism and service learning; leadership development and transformation; diversity, tolerance and conflict management and: action plan development. The program will take place in the DeKalb, Chicago area, and in Washington, D.C., U.S.A.
