CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2ND ASEAN YOUTH WORKSHOP ON MEDIA LITERACY IN BANGKOK

The Department of Children and Youth, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security of Thailand, through the ASEAN Secretariat, and in partnership with the National Youth Commission, is implementing the 2ND ASEAN YOUTH WORKSHOP ON MEDIA LITERACY, which aims to promote media literacy among young people and to strengthen the collaboration among the ASEAN Youth in addressing the negative aspects of internet use like cyberbullying, online harassment, and addiction, among others.

The program is scheduled on April 24-28, 2017 in Tawanna Hotel, Bangkok. NYC will be nominating2 students and 2 working youth.

Qualifications of Student Delegates:

  • Filipino citizen, single,18-25 years old
  • Philippine passport holders (valid until November 1, 2017)
  • Mentally and physical fit to travel
  • Currently-enrolled vocational or college students (Masteral or PhD students need not apply)
  • With educational background mass communication, media studies, social media and communication studies
  • Can communicate in English
  • Be able to attend the pre-departure briefing on April 21, 2017 (Friday) at the NYC head office and the program proper on April 24-28, 2017

Qualifications of Working Youth:

  • Filipino citizen, 18-25 years old
  • Philippine passport holders (valid until November 1, 2017)
  • Mentally and physical fit to travel
  • Working specifically in the field of social media
  • Be able to attend the pre-departure briefing on April 21, 2017 (Friday) at the NYC head office and the program proper on April 24-28, 2017

Requirements:

  • Accomplished NYC Application Form
  • Accomplished Registration Form
  • An essay (not less than 500 words) about the applicant’s educational background and how being part of the program will help his/her studies or chosen career path
  • Copy of Official School Registration Form Certification from Dean or College Secretary that the applicant is a bonafide student
  • Employment Certificate (for working youth)
  • Copy of valid passport

Expenses:

  • Delegates will shoulder their travel expenses from their residence(province) to NAIA and back, their international airfare (Manila-Bangkok-Manila), travel tax/terminal fee, as well as their accommodation in Manila during the pre-departure briefing.
  • The organizer will take care of the delegates’ food, accommodation, and other local hospitalities while in Bangkok.

The following are automatically disqualified:

  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from March 24, 2015 – present whose airfare, meals, and accommodation were paid by the organizer; and
  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from March 24, 2016 – present whose airfare was shouldered by the participants and whose accommodation and meals were paid by the organizer.
